This is your typical Mom & Pop Mexican restaurant. Mom takes the orders and money and Pop prepares the food. No servers, just pick it up when Mom bellows out your order. It will cost you half a buck per transaction for the privilege of using a card, be it debit or credit. Cash is king here.
My lunch entree was the Machaca Combo ($9.15). Surprisingly, it was misspelled on the menu as "Macachaca". That said, it was delicious, nicely spiced, and generously sized. It came with sides of refries and rice, but no tortillas. Other restaurants in San Diego, if not most others, offer this same dish for $7-$8 which includes flour or corn tortillas.
I believe this is the first Mexican restaurant I have been in for years that does not provide complimentary chips and salsa.
The place is really small, but very clean, with seven or eight tables available for dining-in. While there, I noticed many orders are To-Go. It's very easy to find, in a strip mall at the corner of Miramar Road and Black Mountain Road.
Sure, I'm a fan, but a disappointed one to find out that Nachos (and complimentary chips and salsa, of course) are not available here. Otherwise, it's a good little restaurant. -

I've been going here for 10 years now. My buddy in high school, Juan, told me about this shop. It's his dad's. I've been going here since. I'm super picky with Mexican food, because it's not only their food but it's also their salsa and hot sauce too.
Juanberto's does not fail to deliver. It's cheap, it's delicious, their hot sauce is amazing.
Juan told me to get a California burrito with chopped potatoes instead of fries. It was such a good variant, and I wish they still offered that as an option. -

This is one of the most underrated taco shops in Mira Mesa and definitely one of the better taco shops in all of San Diego! The owners are awesome, kind, and genuine people. I have a few issues with the integrity and service of the food however. It seems that every time I order a burrito, I will add and pay for sour cream, however, go pound for pound on my burrito and there won't be ANY sour cream in there! Also, it takes about 15-25 minutes to get my burrito with no sour cream. I definitely recommend if you can wait for your food. I will always recommend a local "Mom and Pop" over a chain restaurant as well. This spot is more of a 3.5 stars...get the carnitas chips, GAMECHANGER!!!

Just went to this restaurant as I used to be a regular. Their prices for rolled tacos have just about doubled. $12.70 for 12, that's over a $1 a taco. For that price I'd rather go to El Patron's just down the street and get a street taco for $1.49 each and don't get charged for using a debit card. If the mall was renovated and their rent went up I would understand, I doubt that happened
